Being Black in Germany meant our founder, Charlotte, often struggled to find hair products and tools that worked for her thick coils. For years, she focused mainly on the look those products could provide. But when she became a first-time mom in 2021, everything changed. Like most parents, she wanted to offer her son the best. Suddenly, the ingredients in haircare products mattered.
Charlotte quickly realized how hard it was to find clean, environmentally friendly haircare products for her little one’s very curly hair . She wanted a solution that made the process as easy as possible, but when she couldn’t find one, she turned to what she does best—research. First, she explored the makeup of existing haircare products. Then, she mapped out ingredients, grouping them by safety and purpose. To gain deeper insights, she began exploring how these products were made by creating and recreating recipes, refining them with each iteration.
Finally, she partnered with a lab and used those insights to create our range of clean, environmentally friendly haircare products. This collaboration ensured the products were safe, effective, and designed to meet the needs of babies and children with curly and afro textured hair
